Battlefield Street Design Showcase Event: 23 July

What we've been up to

Over the last few months we collected your comments on the initial concept design for the area. The design seeks to create a public realm and improve the infrastructure to provide different modes of transport for people to access local facilities and amenities.

Overall the design proposals are based on 5 objectives which have been shaped by your feedback over the recent months. These objectives are:

  • Improving the public realm by enhancing the pavements and adding more greenery;
  • Prioritising people over vehicles to make it easier for people on foot, bike or wheels to travel through the area and safely cross roads;
  • Reducing traffic speed and volume to make it a place where people what to spend time in safely; and
  • Improve connectivity from Battlefield to other parts of the city by improving bus services and connecting existing cycle paths.
  • Throughout this consultation period we engaged with 2,800 people through events, meetings and our project website. 2,195 people visited the website and we received 876 completed surveys and comments. This feedback following the last nine months of engagement has helped refine the concept design which will be showcased at our upcoming public event on the 23rd July.
