Have you seen the designs for the Battlefield Street Design Consultation?

This week the design ideas for the Battlefield Street Design project were presented to the public for feedback and comments. The designs were launched through our NEW design website and were also shown at the Library on Tuesday.

Drop-in event at the Library

On Tuesday we held a public drop-in event at Langside Library where you could see the designs in person and ask the team questions.

Presentations

We held short presentations at 5pm and 7pm to introduce the project and the next steps.

Viewing the Design Proposals

The design proposals focused on options at Battlefield Rest junction, Battlefield Road and the main gateway entrances to the area; Monument, Mount Florida Corner and Queen’s Park Drive. We also looked at the heritage and public realm of the area to start discussing what to add in the new public space e.g. art, sculpture, trees, bike racks. You can read the full set of display boards from the event here: link to display boards .

Pop-up Stall

Thank you to everyone who came along, and also popping by our stall outside at Battlefield junction. It was great to hear so much interest in the project. Your feedback is really valuable for shaping the designs further. Over the day we spoke to over 300 people in the area and received over 140 design feedback forms. If you didn’t get a chance to attend the event don’t worry there are plenty more opportunities for you to get involved.

Feedback until 12 April 2019

This consultation forms a major part of our information collection in the Design stage of this street design project. The comments and feedback from this consultation will help to shape the design proposals over the next few months. The consultation period for the designs is open until Friday 12 April where you can:

  • View the designs online and leave your comments by visiting: https://battlefieldproposals.commonplace.is/overview
  • View hard copy of the designs and fill out a feedback form at either Langside Library or Langside Parish Church
  • Please share this blog with anyone else who lives, works or travels through the area. We need your input to ensure we put forward proposals that work for the whole community.
